چکیده

The approach presented in this paper aims to obtain a QoS for IPv6 protocol over LEO satellites. Most of the switching and access operations in the proposed system will require the intelligent functions to be located on earth. We can allocate links at different bit-rates and no particular assumptions have been made as concerns the access protocol in order to maintain the presented work at a general level. Both Controlled Load and Not-Controlled Load traffic have been considered. The behavior of the proposed system shows that the utilization and the delays are strictly related. The simulations show that large delays correspond to small values of utilization while short delays have the drawbacks of bandwidth waste. Results point out that, as concerns the privileged traffic classes of NCL are subject to delays very close to those obtained by the CL traffic while maintaining high link utilizations.

Multiservice Traffic Allocation in Leo Satellite Communications

Satellite communication promises potential methods for providing global communication. In particular, by the development of a Low Earth Orbital (LEO) satellite constellation, both global coverage and broadband communication will be accessible. Problems arise in situations where various tra¢ c types in broadband communication require di¤erent levels of quality of service (QoS). Tra¢ c control is...

QoS Handover Management in LEO/MEO Satellite Systems

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite networks are foreseen to complement terrestrial networks in future global mobile networks. Although space segment topology of a LEO network is characterized by periodic variations, connections of mobile stations (MS’s) to the satellite backbone network alter stochastically. As a result the quality of service delivered to users may degrade. Different procedures ha...

Jointly power and bandwidth allocation for a heterogeneous satellite network

Due to lack of resources such as transmission power and bandwidth in satellite systems, resource allocation problem is a very important challenge. Nowadays, new heterogeneous network includes one or more satellites besides terrestrial infrastructure, so that it is considered that each satellite has multi-beam to increase capacity. This type of structure is suitable for a new generation of commu...

On providing dynamic resource allocation based on multimedia traffic prediction in satellite systems

The provision of acceptable Quality-of-Service (QoS) for integrated multimedia traffic over a geosynchronous earth orbit (GEO) satellite network demands the existence of a well-designed Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol. This paper proposes a new dynamic satellite bandwidth allocation technique (Predictive Resource Reservation Access, PRRA) which is based on accurate videoconference traffic ...
